Cook It, Eat it, Enjoy It! (Food Choice Considerations)
How is your January going? I originally wrote this post for the holidays, but really this can be applied all year long! This week is about some food choice options to consider to see if they match up with your fitness goals. Enjoy, but don’t indulge: There’s magic and loved baked into some of the awesome dishes, recipes and especially for those special holiday plates and treats. Don’t skip out and miss something you enjoy! Instead eat 1 or 2 treats vs 4 or 5 and eat only 1 or 2 servings vs cleaning out the whole slow cooker. Like they say – everything in moderation… Don’t forget to eat…

Give me the Power (of Movement)
Can you believe we’re already halfway through January?! I know that you have been killing it! To help motivate you to keep on slaying, this week I want to talk about the Power of Movement. Give me the Power… You’re always hearing about why it’s so important to move, move, move, but really… what’s so special about moving? I think these are all pretty good reasons: Moving is physically stretching your muscles vs your body all lethargic and cramped up More exercise = more oxygen to your body = your body being able to function better You’ll live longer and age better – yay! More exercise allows you to get…

Gratitude & Mindset, Let's Get Real, Life is Worth Living For, Shining Moments (Weekly Gratitude & Reflection), Where's the Apple (Keep the Doctor away)
Shining Moments – January 1st to 11th, 2020
Hello everyone! I hope that your start to 2020 has been good despite some of the things happening in the world – Australia’s wildfires, Puerto Rico’s earthquakes, the questioning of will there be [pending] war between USA and Iran, the Taal volcano in the Philippines has erupted, and other business still pending from 2019. I myself just got over a sinus infection that I’m sure turned into Upper Respiratory infection back into a sinus infection and finally kicked out after 2 weeks. It’s been an…interesting…start to 2020 so far. Roaring 20’s indeed… Among the insanity of our lives and of the world, I feel that it is even more important…

Give it to me Stat…
Hello again! You might have seen last week where I suggested some apps if you had created some 2020 fitness goals. If you downloaded some of those or others (share in the comments which ones you chose!), then you’ll well on your way. As Lao Tzu, a Chinese philosopher said, “The Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” I am very proud of you for making the decision to move towards a healthier lifestyle. I know when I first started out, some of the lingo about body stats was difficult to comprehend at first. Of course, as new studies and new techniques come out, things don’t stay…

It’s Gonna be a Rocking 2020 Fitness Year…
Happy 2020 everyone! I hope that the new year is already treating you good. Recently our HR department at work hosted a Maintain Don’t Gain [weight] challenge. Since I am part of the Wellness Committee, I was asked to be the coach for the duration of the challenge to send out weekly tips and inspiration. Our challenge is almost over, but I got some good feedback from the participants, so I thought that you, my wonderful reader, might also like some of the tips that I shared. Since’s it a brand new year, that means the pressure of setting goals, intentions and resolutions is upon us already. You’re…

Halfway There and No Where
Anybody else feel that way? Halfway somewhere, halfway done with something, but yet not there? For me, it’s incredibly frustrating! They said it’s hard to get started, but I feel that it’s harder to keep up that momentum and keeping going. Take a look at New Year Resolutions – people make them, get going and get some momentum and then… something happens. They say it takes 21 days to make a habit and 90 days to make a lifestyle. I myself struggle quite often with this. I am very bad about usually doing great for 1-2 weeks and then a distraction happens. Either short or long term, simply my motivation…

Happy Mother’s Day
Today is a special today, the 2nd Sunday of May and that’s Mother’s Day here in the US. I wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all types of moms – 2 legs, 4 legs, Rainbow babies, Moms-to-be and those who have mother-like spirits. All moms give great sacrifices and today I want to give a special honoring shoutout to my Mom. This woman is my rock ya’ll. She has a strength that is inspiring despite any life situation or illnesses that don’t have a positive track, she has a heart that is SOOOO giving (to family, to friends, to me as her daughter, to HUNDREDS of children that she helped…
