Work It Out
Fitness is good. Endorphins roaring, heart pumping, fit and healthy… sounds great! Yeah, I’m guilty too. Sometimes it’s just easier to come home from work from talking to 100+ a day on the phone or in person and crash on the bed for 6 more hours than it is to change clothes and go pump out some more sweat.

Welcoming 2022 (Word of the Year, Goals & Intentions)
Happy New Year everyone! 2021 sure flew by and good riddance!!!! Like the meme says: But seriously. It’s been no cakewalk for anybody and straight up hell for some. Despite what category you find yourself in, I hope that you will take the time to truly reflect on what has recently happened, how we’ve reacted (either good or bad), take a deep breath, woosaw/woosah a little bit and then look forward to 2022 with even the littlest and tiniest shred of hope. Keeping with the tradition of deciding on a word for the year and what goals/intentions I want to pursue, I have made my decisions earlier than usual.…

Shining Moments April 19th – 25th, 2020
April is almost wrapping up and I’m glad that it didn’t linger like March. I have kept myself busy by working what hours I can get at what is normally my full-time job (presently working about 20-25 hours), still doing UberEats deliveries and some continuing education. Shining Moments – Still working at the hotel – % has dropped, but we’re still maintaining – Unfortunately, someone on the team was let go. I am sad for this, but the silver lining is there are some more hours for the team to share. I am grateful for the hours that my coworkers and I are able to share so that we…

Kitchen Cooking Gadgets… I Have Plenty!
How about that, January is almost over! Where did the month go?! This week is about how to use the cooking utensils and appliances that you use or have access to. We have kitchens and break areas full of items and appliances, but we probably don’t use them as often as we could. I know for me, I have very little time to try to cook (and I’m only cooking for 1 or 2). Here’s some ideas and tips to consider: Do a kitchen inventory of what you do have – knowing what kitchen/cooking tools, gadgets and appliances will help you figure out how you can cook better and more efficiently…

Cook It, Eat it, Enjoy It! (Food Choice Considerations)
How is your January going? I originally wrote this post for the holidays, but really this can be applied all year long! This week is about some food choice options to consider to see if they match up with your fitness goals. Enjoy, but don’t indulge: There’s magic and loved baked into some of the awesome dishes, recipes and especially for those special holiday plates and treats. Don’t skip out and miss something you enjoy! Instead eat 1 or 2 treats vs 4 or 5 and eat only 1 or 2 servings vs cleaning out the whole slow cooker. Like they say – everything in moderation… Don’t forget to eat…

Give me the Power (of Movement)
Can you believe we’re already halfway through January?! I know that you have been killing it! To help motivate you to keep on slaying, this week I want to talk about the Power of Movement. Give me the Power… You’re always hearing about why it’s so important to move, move, move, but really… what’s so special about moving? I think these are all pretty good reasons: Moving is physically stretching your muscles vs your body all lethargic and cramped up More exercise = more oxygen to your body = your body being able to function better You’ll live longer and age better – yay! More exercise allows you to get…

Give it to me Stat…
Hello again! You might have seen last week where I suggested some apps if you had created some 2020 fitness goals. If you downloaded some of those or others (share in the comments which ones you chose!), then you’ll well on your way. As Lao Tzu, a Chinese philosopher said, “The Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” I am very proud of you for making the decision to move towards a healthier lifestyle. I know when I first started out, some of the lingo about body stats was difficult to comprehend at first. Of course, as new studies and new techniques come out, things don’t stay…

It’s Gonna be a Rocking 2020 Fitness Year…
Happy 2020 everyone! I hope that the new year is already treating you good. Recently our HR department at work hosted a Maintain Don’t Gain [weight] challenge. Since I am part of the Wellness Committee, I was asked to be the coach for the duration of the challenge to send out weekly tips and inspiration. Our challenge is almost over, but I got some good feedback from the participants, so I thought that you, my wonderful reader, might also like some of the tips that I shared. Since’s it a brand new year, that means the pressure of setting goals, intentions and resolutions is upon us already. You’re…
